The eDefender starts from the raised position in most applications. Upon receiving a signal from an access control system or push button, the bollard(s) lower simultaneously to provide access for one vehicle. After the vehicle has cleared the safety zones, the bollard(s) raise to the upright position. Optionally this bollard has an Emergency Deployment mode which allows for very fast upward motion of the bollard when an emergency occurs.

Overview

The eDefender - Model B-1A (K4, K8, K12) Automatic Bollard is a retractable bollard that operates using an electric motor and utilizes a PLC to control inputs from an access control systems, emergency access systems, product safety sensors and bollard position sensor.

This 32" or 39" tall x 10" or 10.75" diameter bollard was designed to resist an extremely high impact compatible with DoS test specifications K4, K8, K12.

By connecting an access control system (card reader, keypad, RFID, remote control)or a simple push button station inside of a guard shack or security office, the eDefender can be lowered from the standard raised position to allow authorized access for one vehicle.

By connecting an Emergency Access System (Knox box, Strobe Sensor, Siren Sensor, etc.), the bollards can be lowered quickly to allow police, fire and ambulance access.

Connected to an Emergency Deployment System (emergency button etc.), the bollards can be raised in 2 sec or less in case an emergency requiring fast deployment occurs.

The integration of a variety of safety sensors including ground loops and photo beams help to ensure safe use for authorized vehicles.

Description

The eDefender™ ModelB-1A bollard is an automatic retractable bollard that operates using an electric motor. The standard operation starts from the up position. Upon receiving an input from an external access control system or button, the bollards lower into the down position (in the ground). After the vehicle has passed through the security zone, the bollards raise to the up position and lock.

The eDefender™ Model B-1A bollard can be cycled constantly and requires no recovery time. Electric operation allows for built-in safety protection for authorized vehicles passing over the bollards.

Operation

An electric motor mounted in the adjacent casing operates the link between the bollard and its counterweight to move the assembly.

Guidance

Three anti-friction polyurethane glides ride are used to smooth the gliding of the bollard in its casing.

Materials

Bollard and carriage manufactured in one piece of special alloy carbon steel with rigidity reinforcements. Flat cover made of 3/4" thick carbon steel with a 2" nylon brush mounted on the casing with stainless steel screws that cannot be unscrewed when the bollard is in the raised position because of the internal security hooks. Bollard casing is 18" diameter and manufactured of special alloy carbon steel. Complete bollard and counterweight system is 36" x 18.5".

Corrosion Protection

Bollard, casing and cover electroplated after sandblasting, and powdercoated in any RAL color.

Operating safety

Bollards lower in case of power failure (standard) or remain locked in upper position (optional).3M reflective stripe installed on the upper part of the bollard.No mechanism in the bollard tube; all mechanical and electronic parts are 1" under the ground level at all times and located in the adjacent casing.Movement time controlled by special motor driver in control panel.Moto-reductor includes thermal protection.Control Panel includes breaker.Bollard is fully waterproof and is designed to operate submerged for short periods of time. Impact security

Bollard can sustain an impact of 700K to 1.6M (depending on model) joules in the direction of travel.

Performance

Time for bollard to raise - approximately 4 seconds. Lowering and rising can be independently adjusted. Emergency rising 2 seconds.

Installations

It is highly recommended that Automatic Bollard Systems provide installation supervision services for the eDefender Automatic Bollard.Before any concrete is poured, please ensure that bollard cases are:

  • Installed level to ground and each other (even on sloped roads).
  • Connected to a drainage system that will allow bollard case to drain at a minimum rate of 1 gallon/minute.
  • Positioned so that the electrical conduit openings face the curb.
  • Single galvanized conduit is recomended for motor and sensor controls.
  • eparate conduits must be run for Ground Loop Wires to controller box.

  • Starting Position (Raised (most common) / Lowered).

  • UPS to keep a raised bollard up and locked.
