The eGuardian starts from the raised position in most applications. Upon receiving a signal from an access control system or push button, the bollard(s) lower simultaneously to provide access for one vehicle. After the vehicle has cleared the safety zones, the bollard(s) raise to the upright position.

The eGuardian™ pneumatic bollard is a “green” automatic retractable bollard that operates using a pneumatic air system. The standard operation starts from the up position. Upon receiving an input from an external access control system or button, the bollards lower into the down position (in the ground). After the vehicle has passed through, the bollards raises to the up position and locks.

Up to 10 pneumatic bollards can be connected to one central pneumatic controller (including one compressor)

This 20"(or 30"or 35") tall x 6.5, 8.5, or 10" diameter bollard was designed to resist amedium impact. Available in a powder-coated finish of choice.
By connecting a third party access control system (card reader, keypad, RFID, remote control)or a simple push button station inside of a guard shack, the eGuardian can be lowered from the standard, and most common, raised position to allow authorized access for one vehicle.
By connecting an emergency access system (Knox box, strobe sensor, siren sensor, etc.), the bollards can be lowered to allow police, fire and ambulance access.

Operation

A pneumatic jack powered from a compressor located in the control cabinet provides the air pressure to move and keep the bollards in the high position.
Guidance

Polyurethane slides ride on the bollard casing.
Materials

Bollard and carriage made of steel secured to the carriage by a variable number of screws of different material. Flat cover made of cast iron (1/2" thick) secured with steel screws.
Includes 1/4" nylon ring. 
Casing is 20"x36"x55" to 60" deep" made of carbon steel and reinforced with two external steel straps.
Corrosion Protection

Bollard casing and cover electroplated after sandblasting, powdercoated in any RAL color.

Diameter 6.5, 8.5, or 10"; height: 20",24,31 or 35"
Operating safety

Bollard lowers in case of power failure (standard).
3M reflective stripe (or LED lights) on the upper part of the bollard.
Movement time controlled by PLC in control panel.

Control Panel includes breaker.
Bollard is fully waterproof and is designed to operate submerged for short periods of time. Drainage must be supplied to drain the case at the rate of 1 gal / minute.
Impact security

Depending on the model bollard can sustain an impact of up to 30,000 joules in the direction of travel without damage (and continue to operate).
Performance

Time for bollard to raise - less than 3 seconds for a 20".
Reliability

120 operations per hour; 1,000,000 operations MCBF.

Installations

Automatic Bollard Systems provides installation supervision services or complete installation services for the eGuardian Automatic Bollard.
Before any concrete is poured, please ensure that bollard cases are:

  • Installed level to ground and each other (even on sloped roads).
  • Connected to a drainage system that will allow bollard case to drain at a rate of 1 gallon/minute.
  • Positioned so that the conduit openings face the curb.
  • One conduit for hose and controles.
  • Separate conduits must be run for Ground Loop Wires (galvanized conduit).
